Holidays in the PUSTERTAL at the Dolomities
The Pustertal is a stretched east – west valley that lays like a deep trench between the main alps and the high Dolomities . Wide areas of light and dark coloured shadows of pineforests and the uprising mountains make them look like giants of stone. These wonderful mountains of south Tyrol are the signature of the history of alpinism. Just remember the mountain movies with Luis Trenker, and the climbing successes of the north-wall-side of the three-tops.
The Ahrntal and the Gadertal separates the area around the Pustertal and some biker might dream to ride with his Harley through these passes. Futhermor the Ahrntal is well known because of its defensive looking mountain sight, but also in regards to the original inhabitants with their old traditions: the women create handemade and high quality laces and the men are making wooden masks. At the Gadertal we find up today the old language with ratoroman or ladinic sounds, which sometimes comes over strange to the ear. Further to the east side you can explore two more of the last paradises on earth. One of them is the Pragser Tal. Here, aside from stress an hectic, some of the coldest and deepest mountain seas will make you rethink life or you walk to the segregated Hochalm-green. You also can drive directly to the SEXTEN heaven, named after the valley of SEXTEN. Next to the rustic lifestyle you can measure your time in a different way : the famous SEXTEN sunclock, which is made out of the tops of the Dolomites During Winter time the high Pustertal with the townships Sexten, Innichen, Toblach, Niederdorf and Welsberg the ski paradise. You can select between three ski centers. Each has his own and special attraction and all of them compete with the number one of the area: Kronplatz near Bruneck. Other superlatives are Haunold , Helm & Rotwand. All of them offer a full scale of diversity in all kinds of sport activities and you will meet friendly people all over the townships. Let the magic of the Pustertal take you away.
